How to Replace the Light Bulb in a GE Sensor Microwave Oven Manual

Over-the-range General Electric sensor microwaves include a built-in light on the underside of the appliance to light the cooking surface of the oven below. The light takes the place of the lamp normally attached to the extraction fan hood. Normal wear and tear will eventually cause the light bulb to burn out; installing a replacement 10-watt halogen bulb is a simple task that uses only common household tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the oven from its power supply – there is a risk of electric shock if the power is left on. Unplug the oven or turn off the power at the circuit breaker.

    • 2

Remove the screw holding the light cover in place. There are two lights on the bottom of the oven, on the left and right. Let the cover hang down without the screw.

    • 3

Pull the dead bulb out of its socket and set it to one side. Make sure the bulb has cooled if it was recently working.

    • 4

Insert a new 12-volt, 10-watt maximum bulb into the socket. The bulbs are available from most hardware stores and the General Electric website.

    • 5

Screw the bulb cover back in place and reconnect the power. Press the "Light" button to test the replacement bulb.
