How to Remove the Grill Plate on a Kenmore Microwave Hood

In order to replace the charcoal filter in a Kenmore microwave hood, it's necessary to remove the upper grill plate. The charcoal filter, which helps to reduce odors, is located behind the grill plate at the top of the microwave. Unfortunately, the charcoal filter isn't washable and requires replacement every six to 12 months depending upon usage. The method for removing the grill plate on a Kenmore microwave hood is generally the same with all of their models.
