How to Remove a GE Profile Microwave

The General Electric Profile microwave oven conveniently installs over a kitchen counter, oven range or cooktop. The Profile hangs on support brackets bolted into the wall studs, with overhead support from the cabinets. Get a friend to help hold the Profile if you need to remove the appliance for repairs or to replace it with a new unit. Removing the Profile takes less than half an hour.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Profile power cord from the wall outlet, which is either on the wall beside or below the microwave, or inside the overhead cabinet.

    • 2

Take out the screws and metal washers inside the bottom of the cabinet over the GE Profile while your helper supports the appliance from below.

    • 3

Raise the microwave as far as it will fit against the bottom of the cabinet, then pull forward gently to tilt the bottom front edge upward. This releases the metal hooks on the back of the Profile from the notches on the wall bracket.

    • 4

Pull the Profile forward off the wall bracket and lower gently to the cooktop or counter.

    • 5

Route the power cord out of the hole in the bottom of the cabinet if your power cord was installed that way.
