How to Install a Charcoal Filter in a GE JVM1750 Microwave

The GE JVM1750 is an over-the-counter microwave with a detachable front grill for installing a charcoal air filter. The disposable filter is GE's solution for wall-mounted microwaves that do not connect with a vent to direct air outdoors. Installing the filter screen takes only a few minutes using a screwdriver. For safety, always shut off the power when working inside an electrical appliance, even though you will not come into contact with live electricity while performing this simple maintenance on the GE microwave.

Instructions

    • 1

Switch off the circuit breaker that controls power to the GE JVM1750. Because the appliance is wall-mounted, cutting the power at the breaker is easier than reaching the microwave power plug.

    • 2

Take out the two screws on the top edge of the appliance above the grill.

    • 3

Slide the grill to the left and pull off the microwave.

    • 4

Remove the old filter from the compartment behind the grill and replace with the new filter in the same orientation.

    • 5

Push the grill into position and slide it to the right.

    • 6

Secure the grill to the top of the appliance with the two screws. You can now turn on the power at the circuit breaker.
