How to Fix a GE Profile Oven Door Lock

The GE Profile oven locks during the cooking process to prevent accidental opening of the oven door and features a control lockout setting to temporarily disable the control settings when activated. If the door will not lock, the control lockout may have been activated while the oven door was open and will not lock or operate until the lockout feature is deactivated. A disabled control lockout allows you to set your cooking timer and begins the cooking process by automatically locking the door when it detects the door is securely closed.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the "Clear/Off" button for five seconds to temporarily disable the oven's control lockout setting. The "Control is Locked" message will disappear from the display once the control lockout is off.

    • 2

Insert your uncooked food into the oven then push the oven door shut until the door latch clicks in place.

    • 3

Press the oven control buttons to select the cooking setting. Turn the knob on the right of the display screen to select the cooking time then press "Start/Pause" to power on the oven.

    • 4

Hold down the "Clear/Off" button to enable the control lockout feature. The oven door will automatically unlock itself once the cooking time is complete.
