Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the electrical power to the InSinkErator at your breaker box. Test to make sure the power is off by turning on the disposer's switch.

    • 2

Remove the screws on the plate at the bottom of the disposer. This exposes the wiring.

    • 3

Disconnect the white and black wires, then the grounding wire from the electrical supply cable.

    • 4

Loosen the slip-joint nut that connects the disposer exit to your drain plumbing with channel-lock pliers.

    • 5

Disconnect the drain tube from the disposer by removing the screws on the metal flange. If your unit is a newer model, you may need to loosen a slip-joint nut instead. Remove the drain tubing from the InSinkErator.

Support your disposer and insert the wrenchette that came with your unit into the right side of the mounting lug. Turn the lug. The disposer should fall free. If you don't have the wrenchette, gently tap the lug with a hammer to get it started. Then rotate the disposer sufficiently so that it falls free.
