Quick-Lock Flange Removal

Identification

• The quick lock flange, made of stainless steel, surrounds the opening of the sink's drain. It provides the mounting surface needed to attach the garbage disposal underneath.

Removal

• Detach the three screws holding the mount to the sink. Using a screwdriver, extract the snap ring from the main assembly. From underneath, push the flange up and out of the sink's drain area and remove any remaining putty from the area to ready the surface for a new flange, if applicable.

Significance

• The quick-lock flange allows the homeowner to have a simple installation of a new disposal. If the old flange is not damaged, it can be used again with a new disposal. The new disposal is easily installed with a twist.
