How to Troubleshoot a Badger Insinkerator

Garbage disposals are simple devices that do not include extra buttons or features, so there are not a lot of things that can go wrong with the device. While all Insinkerator Badger garbage disposals come with a knockout plug, you only need to remove this plug if you have connected the device to a dishwasher. Removing a knockout plug that is not connected to a dishwasher will not cause the disposal to malfunction, however it will cause a significant amount of leaking.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the disposal from the wall outlet.

    • 2

Insert an Allen wrench into the hole at the bottom of the appliance.

    • 3

Turn the Allen wrench one full rotation. If the wrench does not freely turn, move the wrench back and forth as many times as needed until you reach the position in which you started.

    • 4

Insert tongs inside the opening at the top of the appliance and remove any loose items.

    • 5

Wait about five minutes, then press the red button on the bottom of the device to reset the appliance.

    • 6

Plug the device back into the wall outlet and flip the switch to turn it on.
