Place the stopper in the sink opening, if you are experiencing unpleasant odors from your KitchenAid waste disposal unit.
Measure out 1/4 cup of baking soda and pour it into the stopper. Immediately turn the stopper over and turn on the water. Allow a good flow of water to run through the stopper. This will ensure all granules of the baking soda are washed away, along with any odor-causing debris.
Turn off both the disposer, and the flow of water passing through it, if the unit becomes jammed.
Fit one end of your KitchenAid KBDS100T wrenchette into the hole located in the middle of the disposal unit's base. Turn the wrenchette through one full revolution, and then take it out of the hole.
Insert the tongs into the unit, and remove all debris and blockages causing the jam. Wait for five minutes, and then press the red re-set button on the base of the waste disposal unit.
Check the fuse or trip switch governing the waste disposal unit if it still fails to operate after the blockage has been removed. Replace the fuse if it has blown, or re-set the trip switch, if it has been thrown.
