How to Assemble an EZ Mount Garbage Disposer

Garbage disposals mount directly underneath your sink's opening. They allow you to pour food directly down the sink, where they grind it up and dispose of it so it does not clog your drain pipe. The Waste King garbage disposal has a mounting system called the EZ Mount. This refers to how the disposal hangs from underneath the sink. It consists of the sink flange and the mounting ring, located on the garbage disposal's opening end.

Instructions

    • 1

Roll a piece of plumber's putty in your hands until you have a rope approximately the same width as your little finger.

    • 2

Hold the sink flange upside down and wrap the putty rope around the opening. Lower the flange into the sink's hole and press it firmly in place.

    • 3

Hold the mounting ring over the garbage disposal's opening. Line up the tabs on the garbage disposal with the spaces in the mounting ring. Push the mounting ring firmly onto the garbage disposal and twist it clockwise to secure it in place.

    • 4

Line up the mounting ring with the sink flange, from underneath the sink. Hold the flange down while you slip the mounting ring onto it. Turn the garbage disposal slightly until the mounting ring and sink flange rest tightly together.

    • 5

Tighten the mounting ring's screws with a phillips screwdriver to secure the garbage disposal in place. Wipe away the extra plumber's putty that oozed out from underneath the sink flange, using a paper towel. If you ever need to remove your garbage disposal from underneath the sink, the EZ Mount system allows you to simply twist the disposal until the tabs line up with the mounting ring's openings and then lower the disposal.
