  1. How to Troubleshoot a Badger 5 Garbage Disposal

    • 1

Unplug your Badger 5 garbage disposal and turn off the water before troubleshooting. If the machine is hardwired to the home's electrical system, trip the circuit breaker or remove the fuse sending it power.

    • 2

Insert a wrenchette, a small wrench, into the hole on the bottom of the Badger 5. Turn counterclockwise until one full rotation is completed. Remove the wrenchette.

    • 3

Place long tongs or pliers into the disposal and remove the dislodged object.

    • 4

Depress the reset button on the bottom of the disposal after allowing the motor to cool for three to five minutes.

Turn on the water and the disposal. If the disposal still fails to work, check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses.
