Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the circuit breaker to the disposal switch that will operate the garbage disposal.

    • 2

Place a bucket under the sink trap. With a pair of channel-lock pliers, unscrew the slip nuts that hold the sink trap to the main drain and the sink.

    • 3

Unscrew the nut on the bottom of the sink flange that holds the strainer in place. With the retaining nut removed, insert a putty knife between the strainer and sink, and gently pry it off.

    • 4

Scrape away any residual putty from the sink and clean the area around the hole.

    • 5

Apply plumber's putty to the bottom of the new sink flange. Carefully position it over the sink hole and press it in.

    • 6

Have a friend hold the new flange in place. From under the sink, attach the gasket and the triangular attachment ring and slide them around the sink flange. Take the round spring clip and snap it into the recess of the sink flange to secure the attachment.

    • 7

Tighten the three screws on the mounting assembly evenly, using a Phillips screwdriver. This will draw the sink flange tightly to the sink.

    • 8

Locate the power cord cover plate on the bottom of the disposal. Using a flathead screwdriver, remove the two screws that hold the plate in place.

    • 9

Connect the power cord by attaching the wires with plastic wire nuts. Place the wires into the opening and replace the electrical cover.

    • 10

Toward the top of the disposal is a dishwasher connection. It is a small tube protruding out. It has a knockout that covers the opening of the tube. With the back end of a screwdriver, tap the knockout loose and remove it.

    • 11

Line up the disposal unit with the sink mounting assembly. While holding the disposal unit in place, turn the lower ring until all the mounting ramps are locked into the assembly. This will hold the garbage disposal but does not yet secure the unit.

    • 12

Connect the discharge tube to the garbage disposal along with the gasket. Position the disposal by turning it until it lines up with the waste trap. Add PVC pipe or extension pieces to complete the connection to the main drain, if necessary.

    • 13

Connect the dishwasher drain hose to the dishwasher port on the garbage disposal. Make sure that the clamp is securely tightened.

    • 14

Lock the disposal to the sink mounting assembly by rotating the cam collar.

    • 15

Check for leaks by running water into the sink. Tighten any connections that may be leaking.

    • 16

Plug the disposal into the switch-operated outlet under the sink. Turn the circuit breaker to the switch back on.

    • 17

Run cold water into the sink and test the operation of the disposal.
