How to Deodorize & Sanitize a Sink Incinerator

A sink incinerator, also known as a garbage disposal, is composed of blades that break down large chunks of food so the kitchen sink doesn't become clogged. Over time, the buildup of old food particles can dirty the sink incinerator as well as make it have an unpleasant smell. You can do many things to deodorize and sanitize the sink incinerator, but the most common and cheapest method is to just use items found in your household.

Turn on your kitchen sink as well as the sink incinerator. Drop a cup of ice cubes into the disposal to sharpen the blades. Follow the ice cubes with a lime, pushing it into the disposal using a wooden spoon for safety. The lime will completely deodorize the sink incinerator.

Turn off the sink and disposal. Add 1/2 cup of baking soda into the sink, wait a few seconds, then chase with 1/2 cup of vinegar. The bubbling action you will notice is a reaction that will not only clear mineral deposits, but kill bacteria as well. Wait several minutes until the bubbling stops.
