• The InSinkErator 555SS model has a width of 8.5 inches and a height of 12.75 inches. The grinding chamber has the capacity to hold 50 oz. of waste. The average consumer will use approximately 1 qt. of water per day to run the InSinkErator food waste disposal unit.

Construction

• The InSinkErator 555SS features a stainless steel grinding chamber and grinding components. To prevent rusting, a corrosion protection shield has been added to this model. This model comes in a waterborne gray color with an exterior enamel finish. The insulated shell reduces the noise of the motor and grinding components. To keep food waste in and silverware out, this model comes with a one-piece stainless steel stopper. InSinkErator also offers custom-colored stoppers including polished brass, white and biscuit.

Electrical

• A 120-volt or 15-amp electrical service is the minimum requirement for the InSinkErator 555SS model. The direct wire electrical connection draws approximately 8.1 amps of electricity when in use. The food waste disposal unit comes with a wall switch, although consumers may purchase a sink top switch that may be installed on the sink or counter.

Mechanical

• Equipped with a three-quarter-horsepower motor, the InSinkErator 555SS offers continuous feed action. The grinding components chop the food waste at a speed of 1,725 rounds per minute. This unit features a standard drain connection and a separate dishwasher drain connection.
