Instructions

    • 1

Dismantle the existing drain flange and vertical drain line to the p-trap connection, if applicable, using a pipe wrench. For new installations, proceed to Step 2.

    • 2

Separate the mounting assembly at the top end of the Maytag disposal by removing the snap-ring retaining the new drain flange, paper gasket, upper ring and mount screws.

    • 3

Place a half-inch ring of plumbing putty around the perimeter edge of the sink's drain opening.

    • 4

Install the new drain flange in the sink's drain opening and push downward firmly to evenly spread the putty.

    • 5

Access the underside of the sink. Slip the paper gasket, backup ring and mounting ring onto the drain flange sleeve, keeping the concave side of the backup and mounting rings pointed downward. Hold the pieces in place and secure them with the snap ring inserted into the ring channel at the lower end of the drain sleeve.

    • 6

Insert the mounting screws into the threaded holes in the mounting ring, keeping the slotted end of the screws downward. Keeping the mounting ring level, use a screwdriver to tighten the screws evenly against the backup ring until the drain flange is fully seated.

    • 7

Clean away any excess plumber's putty that squeezed out at the perimeter of the drain flange in the sink with a dry rag.

    • 8

Remove the disposal's dishwasher connection plug, if applicable. The plug is located in the serrated hose inlet on the side of the disposal housing. Tap the plug with the tip of a screwdriver to break it out. If a dishwasher connection is not needed, proceed to Step 9.

    • 9

Position the disposal beneath the drain mount, then push the disposal upward to engage the mounting ring. Twist the disposal clockwise to lock the three mount tabs in the drain mount assembly.

    • 10

Secure the disposal's drain discharge tube to the drain outlet with the two bolts provided.

    • 11

Slide the p-trap connection nut and plastic compression ring onto the drain discharge tube. Slip the end of the drain discharge tube into the p-trap and tighten the p-trap nut.

    • 12

Attach the dishwasher drain hose to the disposal's dishwasher connection, if applicable, with a hose clamp.

    • 13

Lock the disposal's top mounting bracket in place with the lock wrench provided.

    • 14

Plug the disposal's power cord into a wall outlet beneath the sink.

    • 15

Run tap water through the sink drain and disposal to check the disposal and drain connections for leaks and tighten, if needed.
