How to Fix the Bosch Dishwasher SHX45P05UC Drain

Problems with your Bosch SHX45P05UC dishwasher's drainage system can result in your machine not cleaning your dishes properly and in it failing to start at all. Luckily, you can identify and fix the cause of most drainage problems yourself. Disconnect your dishwasher from its power source before attempting to isolate a drainage issue..
  1. Filter

    • Any scraps of food that are left on your dishes when you put them into your dishwasher can build up in your machine's filter and cause a blockage. If you don't rinse your plates before you put them into your machine, it's likely your filter will become blocked sooner rather than later. Take out the shelf at the bottom of your dishwasher, remove the filter plate and scoop out any food residue from the filter cavity.

    Drain Hose

    • Examine your drain hose to make sure it isn't bent or trapped beneath an appliance or a base cabinet. If it is, the waste water that's expelled from your washer cannot travel to your sink trap. If your hose has been perforated and is leaking water, you need to contact Bosch customer service to order a replacement part.

    Trap Connection

    • A poorly fitted trap connection can cause leaks. Make sure the hose clamp that connects your washer's drainage pipe to your sink trap is securely in place. Tighten the hose clamp that holds the end of the drainage pipe over your sink trap's dishwasher connection with a pair of pliers.

    Blocked Trap

    • A blockage in your sink trap can cause waste water to back up into your machine. Use a plunger and a plughole unblocker to clear your trap. Always wear rubber gloves when handling a chemical unblocker. If your dishwasher drainage pipe is connected to a disposal unit, check your disposal's user's manual to find out how to clear blockages.
