How to Install a Pressure Tower in a Dishwasher

Water is dispensed during the cleaning cycle in a dishwasher by means of a pressure tower, which is also commonly called a spray arm. The pressure tower is located inside the dishwasher at bottom center of the appliance; the tower also features a plastic blade
that spins during the cleaning cycle. If water is not dispensing through the pressure tower, you can remove the current tower part and install a new one. New pressure towers can be purchased and ordered from the dishwasher manufacturer or an online retailer.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the electrical power to your dishwasher by unplugging it from the wall outlet or turn the power off from your kitchen's circuit breaker.

    • 2

Open your dishwasher door, then pull out the top and bottom racks all the way to fully remove them from the dishwasher.

    • 3

Locate the pressure tower in the middle center within the dishwasher. Check to see if there is a bolt in the center of the tower.

    • 4

Remove the bolt from the pressure tower, if there is one, using an adjustable wrench. If there is no bolt, then the tower should be able to be dislodged by twisting it.

    • 5

Turn the pressure tower counter-clockwise, and then lift the part up and out of the dishwasher. On some models, you may need to disconnect a feed tube from the pressure tower.

    • 6

Place the new pressure tower part into the middle center of the dishwasher in the same position. Turn the tower clockwise to lock it into place.

    • 7

Reconnect the feed tube to the tower, and reinsert the bolt on top of the tower, if applicable.

    • 8

Slide the top and bottom racks into the dishwasher and close the dishwasher door.
