Remove the kick plate access panel from your dishwasher. This panel is located in the front of the dishwasher at the very bottom. Remove the panel with a Phillips screwdriver. The number and placement of screws will vary according to your dishwasher model and design. Gently pull the dishwasher out from its housing so you may reach the gas line hose.

Locate the gas valve running to your dishwasher; turn the valve to the “off” position. If there is no valve on the gas line coming out of the wall, locate the main gas valve. This valve is typically located on the side of your home. Using an adjustable wrench, turn the valve so its tang, the part of the valve you put your wrench on, is crosswise to the gas pipe. Contact your gas company if you cannot locate the gas shutoff valve.

Disconnect power to the dishwasher by flipping the electrical breaker for your dishwasher to the “off” position.

Locate the water supply knob for your dishwasher, and turn this knob to the “off” position. While the exact position of this knob can vary according to your kitchen design, the knob is typically located underneath your sink.

Carefully unscrew the gas line from your dishwasher to the gas hose coming from the wall. Depending on the connection type, you may need an adjustable wrench to loosen the connection. Once the connection is freed, remove the gas line from the dishwasher.
