I am Unable to Cancel the Cycle on a Bosch Dishwasher

Bosch dishwashers are designed to be water saving, energy efficient, dependable appliances. Bosch dishwashers are exceptionally quiet and typically trouble free. If you are unable to cancel the cycle on your Bosch dishwasher, attempt to troubleshoot the problem before incurring the expense of a calling a service technician.
  1. Safety First

    • To avoid electrical shock, personal injury or death, before you attempt troubleshooting or repairs to your dishwasher, always disconnect the unit from the power source. Unplug the appliance from the wall outlet or shut off electrical power at the fuse box or circuit breaker.

    Float

    • Bosch dishwashers are equipped with a small electrical switch located under the dishwasher. Above this switch, on the inside of the appliance, is a small plastic cylinder that floats upwards as water fills inside the dishwasher. If the switch is defective or if the float is impeded or trapped in a raised position, water is unable to enter the dishwasher. The dishwasher will continue to run as it tries to fill with water. If the float switch is malfunctioning, a replacement kit can be ordered online from appliance dealer websites that specializes in Bosch appliance parts or from your local Bosch service center.

    Timer

    • If the timer always hangs up at the same point, the problem is likely to reside with the float. However, if you are unable to cancel the cycle on your dishwasher or if it stops randomly before the cycle is complete, the timer may need to be replaced.

    Safety Recall

    • On January 15, 2009, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and Bosch Home Appliances announced a voluntary recall of 465,000 Bosch dishwashers due to a fire hazard from a faulty electrical connection. The recall includes models manufactured between May 1999 and July 2005. The recall problem resides in the control panel which can catch on fire. The control panel regulates the wash/rinse/dry cycles. A short in the control panel could prevent you from cancelling the cycle on your Bosch dishwasher. Consumers are advised to stop using the units immediately and to call the Bosch Hotline for a free repair if your dishwasher is included in the recall.
