Removing the Legs on a Frigidaire Dishwasher

The Frigidaire dishwasher normally requires a minimum cabinet opening height of 34-inches for a standard size dishwasher. This allows some room to level the dishwasher with the leveling legs. Sometimes, though, the front of the countertop is lower than the cabinet height. When this happens, it is most often necessary to remove the leveling legs completely so the dishwasher will fit in the cabinet space. Removing the legs on a Frigidaire dishwasher requires a level floor or the use of shims to level the dishwasher once you install it in the cabinet.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a sheet or several towels on the floor behind the dishwasher. This protects the floor and the dishwasher from damage.

    • 2

Tilt the dishwasher on its back with assistance from a helper. Lower the back of the Frigidaire dishwasher onto the towels or sheet.

    • 3

Remove the screws securing the lower service panel to the dishwasher with a Phillips screwdriver and pull the panel away from the unit. The service panel is the small flat panel below the dishwasher door. This is how you normally access the parts under the Frigidaire dishwasher once it is installed.

Adjust a crescent wrench around the hexagon foot of a leveling leg. Rotate the top of the leveling legs counterclockwise with a 5/16-inch socket wrench. The leveling leg unthreads from the hexagon foot and the frame of the dishwasher. Repeat for the remaining three leveling legs.
