Water will siphon immediately out of the dishwasher if the drain hose is not installed properly. The hose must be set and looped at least 32 inches above the floor. Use a measuring tape to ensure the drain hose is established high enough from the floor and has a full loop.
If the drain hose cannot be established at least 32 inches from the ground, contact a plumber to install an air gap on the kitchen sink. An air gap separates the drain water from the dishwasher and the kitchen drain system.
The dishwasher should not be installed more than 10 feet from the sink. If the dishwasher is located too far from the sink, water may not drain properly and may siphon out of the dishwasher while filling instead of staying in the dishwasher as expected. Contact GE or another installation professional for advice if the dishwasher is too far away from the sink.
The drain valve may fail as the Triton dishwasher gets older. This results in a valve that sticks open or gets stuck with debris, allowing water to drain out immediately after entering during the wash cycle. Look at the drain valve on the bottom of the dishwasher tub and clean it out if there is residue or debris blocking the valve. If the valve is damaged or no debris is evident and other troubleshooting efforts have failed to solve the problem, contact GE for assistance.
