How to Install a Dishwasher Return Panel

A dishwasher return panel is a custom wood covering installed over the side or front of the appliance. The panel is designed to blend in with the surrounding cabinetry for a custom look and to hide the fact that there is a dishwasher under the counter or at the end of the cabinets, on a corner. The panel attaches directly to the front of the dishwasher using mounting holes expressly designed for this purpose. Older dishwashers that do not have the mounting holes are not designed for a return panel and cannot be retrofitted.

Instructions

    • 1

Shut off the dishwasher or wait for it to complete a cycle and stop.

    • 2

Place the short edge of the return panel over the left or right side of the door, if installing a front return panel, or on the side of the appliance if you are installing an end panel.

    • 3

Press the panel flat against the dishwasher. On a front panel, flex the other edge slightly to fit the panel onto the opposite edge of the door.

    • 4

Insert the screws supplied with the return panel through the holes in the panel and tighten into the mounting holes on the appliance with a screwdriver.

    • 5

Press the hardware covers over the screw heads if your return panel is supplied with these round covers, which hide the mounting hardware.
