Front Panel Removal of the KitchenAid Superba

The KitchenAid Superba dishwasher has a front panel made from plastic or stainless steel. This panel not only provides a clean, streamlined look to the dishwasher, but also houses several important components, as well as insulation that reduces noise and increases energy efficiency. The panel is simple to remove for repairs or replacement.
  1. Method

    • At the bottom of the dishwasher, you'll find two screws that attach the toe panel. Loosen these, but do not remove them. Remove the two screws at the top of the access panel, which is directly beneath the door. Lift the access panel out of the way. Remove the two screws at the bottom of the door that secure the outer panel. Slide the panel down until the two notches in the panel match up with the notches in the door to release the panel. Lift the panel off the door.

    Reasons

    • In general, you'll want to remove the front panel of the KitchenAid Superba dishwasher to perform minor repairs, such as replacing the detergent or rinse aid chambers, or to add sound-proofing insulation. If the front panel becomes dented or damaged, you may remove the front panel to replace it, as well.

    Safety

    • Disconnect the dishwasher from its power source or flip the breaker switch to eliminate power before you attempt to remove the front panel or perform any repairs. Failure to do so may result in electric shock. Once you've completed repairs, turn the power source back on or flip the breaker switch.

    Alternatives

    • In some cases, you must remove the console, or top panel, rather than the front panel, to perform repairs. Remove the console to repair or replace the switch board, electrical panel or articulated vent. The console can be accessed by loosening the screws found at the top of the inside of the door. You must disconnect the ribbon cable from the control panel and the rinse aid sensor from the switch before you lift the console out of the way.
