Water Is Leaking From My Danby Dishwasher

Danby makes a wide range of dishwashers, including built-in and countertop models. Energy efficient and time saving, Danby dishwashers are helpful kitchen appliances. It can be frustrating if your Danby dishwasher starts leaking for no apparent reason. Try these troubleshoot techniques before calling a service technician.
  1. Door Seal

    • Inspect the door seals for obvious signs of wear and tear. The door seal may be cracked, torn or distended and the door cannot close correctly. A good door seal should be firm, without visible cracks or bulges. If the door seal is the problem, a replacement door seal can be ordered online from appliance repair websites that specialize in Danby appliance parts or from your local Danby dealer.

    Clean Filters

    • If the filters or drain line are blocked with sticky food residue or built-up mineral deposits the dishwasher cannot operate properly. If the machine cannot drain it may present a leak. Clean the filters with soapy water and a soft brush. Rinse well and replace.

    Excessive Water Pressure

    • If water discharges from the kitchen sink tap with considerable force, your water pressure may be too high. For most household purposes, 50 psi is adequate. You can check it with a pressure meter, available for purchase from home and garden or plumbing supply stores. If water pressure is excessive, an inexpensive inline water pressure regulator can easily be installed. If the water pressure is too great on the intake hose, the dishwasher may be leaking around the fitting where the plumbing line attaches to the dishwasher. Check the connection and repair or replace if necessary.

    Miscellaneous Possible Problems

    • The dishwasher may be leaking from underneath if the drain pump is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. A small chip of glass, a toothpick or other debris may be interfering with the operation of the impeller. A Danby counter-top dishwasher may leak if it is installed on an uneven counter-top. A water intake hose or drainage line may be cracked or severed. If hoses are old, worn, stiff or brittle they should be replaced.
