Turn off the circuit breaker controlling the dishwasher or remove the fuse from the fuse box.
Remove the screws in the sides of the kick plate at the front of the appliance. Pull off the plate and set it aside. Locate the inlet valve inside the appliance, typically on the right, at the bottom. A fill hose attaches to one side of the valve and extends through the cabinet or wall to the sink plumbing.
Close the knob in the valve for the fill hose beneath the sink. Turn the knob clockwise.
Use pliers to squeeze the clamp on the fill hose where it attaches to the valve. Pull off the hose and hold the end over an old towel to catch the excess water.
Pull off the two wires clipped to the electrodes on top of the valve. This is the solenoid. Each wire slides off an electrode. Note where the wires connect so you can hook them up in the same way to the new part.
Remove the screws holding the valve to the bracket under the appliance. Take out the old valve and solenoid.
Hold the new part in position and secure it with the screws to the bracket.
Slide the two wires onto their respective electrodes on the new part.
Push the fill hose onto the inlet pipe on the new part, squeezing the clamp to secure the hose. Wipe up any spilled water beneath the appliance with a towel.
Replace the kick plate using the screws and screwdriver.
Unscrew the knob for the fill hose under the sink.
Turn on the power at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
