How to Troubleshoot for a Bosch Dishwasher Model SHU43C05UC/17

Dishwashers save you hundreds of hours of your time every year by replacing tedious hand-washing of dishes. However, if your Bosch dishwasher model SHU43C05UC/17 has suddenly stopped working, you can invest a small amount of your time to determine the problem. You may be able to fix the problem yourself and save money, or you may need to call in a repair technician to get the system fixed. Once you find out the problem, you can fix it and return to your previous enjoyment of your Bosch dishwasher.

Instructions

    • 1

Check to see if the lights on the front panel illuminate. If you attempt to turn the dishwasher on and nothing lights up, you could have an electrical problem. Ensure that the machine is plugged in and check your electric box for a blown fuse or tripped breaker. Check to make sure the door is closed and latched properly.

    • 2

Run a test cycle. The Bosch model SHU43C05UC/17 comes equipped with a test cycle option that allows you to run a cycle; malfunction lights will turn on if a problem is detected. Hold down the "POWER SCRUB PLUS" and "REGULAR WASH" buttons at the same time. Turn the dishwasher on.

    • 3

Look at any flashing lights. If the "WASH" button blinks, this means there is a problem with the heater. The flashing "RINSE/DRY" button means that the dishwasher is over- or underfilling. The "CLEAN" button means there is a problem with the temperature.

Address any issues discovered during the test cycle. Check your heating element if there was a heater problem.

    • 5

Run the cycle and see if water pumps to the dishwasher. Check the drain hose for any kinks, clogs or problems with installation and make any necessary adjustments. Check the filters and remove any clogs. Check the float mechanism to ensure that it moves up and down. Check whether the kitchen sink is clogged. Call a plumber if the kitchen sink is clogged.

Run the cycle and see if it gets to the rinse cycle. If the rinse cycle does not start, check to see if the water line is open, and check the inlet filter for blockage. Open the water valve if it is closed, and unclog the inlet filter.

Check for any drainage problems if excessive water remains in the dishwasher after the cycle. Check all remaining hoses for blockage. Check the drain valve. Check the air gap located by your kitchen sink if you have one. Remove the cover and clean the air gap with a wire.
