Refer to the owner’s manual for the dishwasher to find the appropriate part number for the gasket. If the owner’s manual is not available, refer to the make and model of the dishwasher. The make and model is typically located on the outside door of the dishwasher.
The gasket is not readily available for purchase at home improvement or general merchandise stores. Contact the store where the dishwasher was purchased or the manufacturer’s customer service center to find where to purchase the gasket. If the part is no longer available, the manufacturer will suggest a replacement part that is acceptable to use.
Installing a new gasket is an easy process. Soften the new gasket before installation by soaking it in hot water. Open the dishwasher door and pull out the old gasket. The old gasket can be easily removed by holding one end of it at the bottom of the dishwasher and pulling it outward. When the new gasket is softened, fold the gasket in half to find its center. Push the center of the gasket into the top center of the dishwasher’s tank channel. Continue to push the gasket into the tank channel at the top and work down until the gasket is installed.
The gasket sealer is not a common part of the household cleaning routine. To ensure the gasket sealer functions properly, wipe the entire gasket with a rag dampened with warm water after using the dishwasher. Debris such as food and dishwasher detergent can break down the gasket seal, making it less effective. Keep the gasket seal clean to avoid replacing it often.
