How to Troubleshoot a KitchenAid KUD101T

The KitchenAid KUD101T dishwasher features two dish drawers, a silverware basket, three spray arm assemblies and a digital-display control panel on the top of the door. This model is smaller in size to comparable conventional dishwashers to allow for installation in small areas, and it qualifies for an Energy Star rating. If your KitchenAid KUD101T dishwasher doesn't work properly, troubleshoot problems yourself before calling a technician.

Instructions

  1. Dishwasher Turns Off Mid-Cycle or Won't Start

    • 1

Press and hold down the “Energy Saver Dry” button to turn off the “Control Lock” setting. The dishwasher won't start if the “Control Lock” setting is engaged, as indicated by the “Control Lock” message on the display panel.

    • 2

Switch from the “Rinse Only” cycle to either the “Heavy Duty” or “Normal” cycles. The “Rinse Only” cycle sprays water on items that you don't intend to wash immediately.

    • 3

Check your home's circuit breaker. Turn the circuit-breaker switch that powers your dishwasher to the "Off" position. Turn it back to the "On" position, and test the dishwasher.

    • 4

Allow the dishwasher’s motor to cool if it stopped after washing multiple loads within a short time period. The motor automatically will turn off as a safety precaution if it overheats.

    • 5

Ensure that the water supply lines below the sink are turned on if you recently turned them off.

    Dishes are Still Dirty

    • 6

Allow a nearby hot water faucet to flow until the temperature reaches 120 degrees to enable the dishwasher to draw hot water immediately.

    • 7

Fill the detergent dispenser with at least 1 tbsp. of detergent with every wash cycle. Avoid using detergent that has clumped together from excessive moisture. Remove any clumped detergent from the dispenser.

    • 8

Pull the drawers out of the dishwasher and remove any gunk that may be jamming the nozzles within the spray arms.

    • 9

Use a detergent with at least an 8.7 percent phosphorous content if your home has hard water because a detergent with a lower phosphorous content could create an excessive amount of suds that could slow down the spray arm.

    Dishes Aren't Completely Dry

    • 10

Avoid overloading the dishwasher because too many items can prevent the water from draining properly.

    • 11

Fill the rinse aid dispenser completely. Periodically check the dispenser to make sure that it contains rinse aid. Generally, the dispenser will store enough rinse agent to last about three months.

    • 12

Select the “Heated Drying” option rather than the “Air Dry” or “Energy-Saving Dry” options.
