How Do I Repair a GE Triton XL That Won't Drain?

If you notice water leaking from the bottom of your GE Triton XL dishwasher when you use it, then there is most likely a problem with the unit not properly draining. The most common reason for a GE Triton dishwasher to not drain is a clog in the filter or hose. Removing any excess food or obstructions from the filter and hose can easily be done without having to call a repairman. It's also important to fix your dishwasher when it's not draining to prevent flooding from occurring in your kitchen.

Instructions

    • 1

Move your GE Triton XL dishwasher away from the wall, and disconnect the power supply from the AC wall outlet.

    • 2

Open the front dishwasher door, and then remove the top and bottom racks so you have access to the inside of the unit.

    • 3

Turn the drain filter, which is located at the bottom center of the unit, counterclockwise, and then completely remove it.

    • 4

Use a rag to help remove any excess food or dirt, or any other items clogging the drain. Tighten the filter back in place by turning it clockwise.

    • 5

Use a screwdriver to remove the two screws on the front panel, and then take off the front panel. Set it aside.

    • 6

Press down on the clamp located next to the water pump and hose, and then loosen the hose from the pump. Remove the hose completely from the dishwasher unit.

    • 7

Spray the inside of the hose, using a garden hose to remove any obstruction clogging it. Reconnect the hose, making sure it is securely fastened.

    • 8

Reinstall the front panel on the unit and then reinsert the two screws. Close the dishwasher door and reconnect the power supply.
