How to Troubleshoot a Kenmore Dishwasher Door Lock

Kenmore dishwashers have many options that owners expect to see, such as different wash cycles for different types of dishes, a heated or air dry option, delay start, high temperature wash feature and a quick rinse cycle. However, another feature on many Kenmore dishwashers is the control lock feature for child protection, which might require some troubleshooting if owners are not familiar with this control.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the “Heat Dry” key pad and hold it for three seconds to lock the dishwasher door.

    • 2

Release the “Heat Dry” key pad when the “Lock” icon key pad is illuminated. You have now locked the dishwasher controls and door.

    • 3

Touch the “Heat Pad” key pad until the “Lock” icon key pad is no longer illuminated to release the control lock feature.

    • 4

Disconnect power to the Kenmore dishwasher, wait five minutes and restore power if the door remains locked even when the control lock is not engaged. This should reset the unit and release the lock. Contact Kenmore if the door remains locked even after you have released the control lock and performed a reset.
