How to Install a Kenmore Dishwasher Drain Hose

The Whirlpool Corporation manufactures a line of residential dishwashers under the Kenmore brand name. Kenmore dishwashers are simple to install, even without previous appliance installation experience. If you're the owner of a brand-new Kenmore dishwasher, you can roll up your sleeves and have your dishwasher drain hose installed in a matter of minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Drill a 2-inch hole in the wall of the cabinet between the sink and dishwasher. Sand the edges of the hole to a smooth finish if you have wooden cabinets; for metal cabinets, cover the edges of the hole with electrical tape.

    • 2

Locate the drain hose connector underneath your Kenmore dishwasher. This component can usually be found under the front left corner of the appliance; in some models, the drain hose connector is located under the rear left corner. Remove the drain hose connector cap.

    • 3

Slide the spring-type drain hose clamp over and all the way to the end of the drain hose connector. Fit one end of the drain hose over the connector. Use pliers to open the spring-type clamp while simultaneously pushing the drain hose onto the connector as far as it will go. Release the clamp to hold the drain hose in place.

    • 4

Thread the other end of the drain hose through the hole you made in the adjacent cabinet.

    • 5

Attach the end of the drain hose to the dishwasher connection under your sink. The connection is an approximately 2-inch component that extends from the main pipe (see the diagram in the Resources section). Slide the second spring-type clamp onto the dishwasher connection. Open the clamp with your pliers, fit the drain hose on the connection and release the clamp.
