Discontinue power by turning off the circuit breaker associated with the dishwasher.
Open the dishwasher door, and pull out the racks and set them aside. If your GE dishwasher has a propeller arm attached to the upper rack, flip it over so you can access the arm.
Remove the nut that secures the propeller arm to the bottom of the dishwasher and/or the top rack. Use a socket wrench with the correct size socket installed to turn the nut counterclockwise. Be careful not to lose the washer that sits underneath the nut.
Grasp the propeller arm with both hands and pull it straight up and off of its mount.
Install the new propeller by setting it on its mount in the same position the old one occupied. Install the washer and the nut by hand. Tighten the nut using the socket wrench. Replace the racks and restore the power.
