Check the rinse aid and detergent compartments, and fill them according to the manufacturer’s directions. The dishwasher can’t clean the dishes adequately without the correct amount of detergent. The rinse agent helps the dishes to dry without spots. On the other hand. too much rinse aid causes streaks.
Investigate the power supply. Ensure the power cord is plugged into the wall socket. Check the fuse box or circuit breaker.
Check the door. The door must be closed so the dishwasher can start. Press “Start” and close the door to restart the unit if you’ve opened the door mid-cycle.
Inspect the door gasket. Clean or replace it if it’s damaged. An improper seal can leak while a dirty one can cause a bad odor.
Investigate the length of time it takes the machine to perform a complete cycle. If the dishwasher must heat the water, the cycle will take longer. Before running the dishwasher, run the hot water faucet nearest the dishwasher until the water is hot. This allows hot water to enter the dishwasher immediately.
Check the drain hose. Remove kinks and blockages, and ensure it is seated in the drain properly. Ensure the kitchen drain is working. If there are blockages or kinks the dishwasher won’t be able to drain.
Check the filters and remove blockages. Reinstall the filters if they are installed incorrectly. Blocked or improperly installed filters prevents the machine from cleaning properly and from draining.
Inspect the load in the dishwasher. Ensure items are not sitting on each other, delicate items are not touching and oversized items are not blocking the spray arm. When the dishes and utensils nest together they won’t get clean and when the spray arm is blocked the items in the top rack won’t get clean. Items that touch can be chipped or broken. Set the utensil into the tray so they don’t rattle or nest together.
Inspect the spray arms. Clean the spray arms, otherwise they will not spray properly and the dishes won’t be clean. Adjust the racks to accommodate oversized items so they won’t interfere with the spray arms.
Check the program control. Select the correct program for the items you are washing. For example, select the “Pots and Pans” cycle for heavily soiled dishes.
