How to Check if My LG Drain Hose Is Clogged

LG manufactures several types of home appliances, including refrigerators, microwaves, washing machines and dishwashers. As with any other appliance that utilizes water and drains the water back out of the appliance, LG dishwashers and washing machines use a drain hose that sometimes gets clogged or obstructed. This may be caused by debris or a bend or a kink in the hose, but it usually can be resolved through some troubleshooting.

Instructions

  1. Washing Machine

    • 1

Disconnect the LG washer from its power source.

    • 2

Find the drain hose on the back of the washing machine. The inlet port is located on the upper half of the left side of the washer when you're facing the rear of the machine. Pull the washer forward from the wall if necessary to access the drain hose. You may need help with this step.

    • 3

Place towels on the floor under the drain hose to catch any drips.

    • 4

Unscrew the drain hose from the washing machine and let the water drip out. Shake the hose firmly while it's pointed down at the towels to dislodge any clogs.

    • 5

Use a soft brush to clean the filter screen inside the hose. Reconnect the hose with a wrench in a clockwise motion until it's secure, and straighten out the hose to prevent kinks from causing additional drain problems.

    Dishwasher

    • 6

Disconnect the LG dishwasher from its power source.

    • 7

Pull the dishwasher forward if it's located under the kitchen counter. You might need help with this step.

    • 8

Put towels down on the ground, and disconnect the drain hose from the lower rear of the dishwasher.

    • 9

Use a soft brush to clean the inlet filter on the drain hose to remove any debris.

    • 10

Look in the hose for signs of debris, and clean out any blockages. Shake the hose firmly to verify that all clogs have been removed. Reconnect the drain hose firmly with a wrench, and keep the hose as straight as possible.
