How to Remove a GE Profile Dishwasher Spray Arm

If you dishes don’t appear to be getting much soap or water during a cycle when you use you GE Profile dishwasher, then there may be an internal issue with the spray arm. The spray arm is the large plastic blade-like piece that is located below the bottom rack of the dishwasher. You can remove the spray arm part at any time and determine if it needs replacing.

Instructions

      Turn off the power to the dishwasher from your main circuit breaker in your home.

      Open the dishwasher door and pull out the entire bottom rack to remove it from the unit.

      Turn the large plastic spray arm in the bottom middle of the dishwasher until you see an opening at the base holding the arm in place.

      Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the opening and press down on the clip. Pull out the clip using the screwdriver and set it aside.

      Reinsert the screwdriver through the entire opening so that the head of the screwdriver appears on the other side of the opening.

      Lift up on both ends of the screwdriver and turn the spray arm counterclockwise. Lift up and remove the entire spray arm from the unit.

      Inspect the spray arm part for any damage in order to determine if it needs to be replaced. Place the spray arm part back into the base within the dishwasher.

      Press down on the top of the spray arm, then turn the spray arm clockwise to lock it onto the base. Reinsert the clip into the open using the screwdriver.

      Slide the bottom rack back into the dishwasher and close the door. Turn the power back on for the dishwasher on your circuit breaker.
