How to Troubleshoot a Bosch Dishwasher That Doesn't Fill With Water

A Bosch dishwasher, like other brands of dishwashers, receives its water supply from the hot water line under the kitchen sink. If your Bosch dishwasher is not filling with water when it is called for during the cycle, the cause may be due to a special feature on the Bosch dishwasher. You can save money on an expensive service call by an appliance repair technician by first trying to resolve the problem yourself.

Turn on the kitchen sink to ensure that the hot water supply has not been interrupted for some reason. The dishwasher and the kitchen faucet are both connected to the same hot water shutoff valve. If the faucet is being supplied with hot water, then the dishwasher should also be.

    • 2

Remove the bottom panel from the front of your Bosch dishwasher using a nut driver to unscrew the fasteners. Turn the screws counterclockwise and lift off the panel once all the screws have been removed.

    • 3

Locate the anti-flood pan under the dishwasher. Bosch supplies a pan to catch water that may escape from the dishwasher. The pan has a float switch that shuts off the water inlet valve if there is too much water in the pan.

Soak up the water in the pan using paper towels. Replace the bottom panel and try the dishwasher again. If it fills with water and works normally, check the pan occasionally to monitor it. Also, check the float switch for debris and clean it, if necessary, as this could also affect operation of the dishwasher. See if this resolves the problemThe water in the pan could be a sign of a more serious problem or it may have been a one-time event. If the dishwasher still doesn't work, you may need to call an appliance service technician to resolve a more serious problem.
