How to Remove the Filter in a Frigidaire Self-Cleaning Dishwasher

Frigidaire self-cleaning dishwashers have a filter that removes food residue from dishes that might otherwise block proper cleaning or draining. Some dishwasher models have a glass trap within a filter to catch any pits, broken glass, bones or straws that fall into the bottom of the tub. Other models have a cylinder-shaped filter in the bottom of the tub.

Instructions

  1. Glass Trap Models

    • 1

Locate the filter under the bottom spray arm.

    • 2

Pull out the glass trap by the handle and empty the contents.

    • 3

Rinse the trap with water to remove any excess debris or shards.

    • 4

Slide the glass trap back into position.

    Cylinder Filter Models

    • 5

Disconnect power to the Frigidaire dishwasher.

    • 6

Pull the bottom rack out of the dishwasher. Turn the cylinder-shaped filter under the spray arm counterclockwise and lift out.

    • 7

Empty out the filter and rinse it with water.

    • 8

Unscrew the bottom spray arm and remove the spray arm from the dishwasher.

    • 9

Lift out the filter housing. Rinse the filter housing with water.

    • 10

Reverse the above steps to replace the filter housing, spray arm and cylinder filter.
