How to Check the Filter in an LG Dishwasher

Most LG dishwashers have a built-in filter to help remove food debris, and many models also have a built-in, hard food grinder to crunch up small, hard objects. While both the filter and the grinder should help keep the dishwasher draining well by preventing large chunks from entering the drain, water may start to slow when draining, or the draining cycle may not complete as expected. If this occurs, checking the filter in the dishwasher may help fix the problem.

Disconnect the power to the LG dishwasher.

Open the dishwasher door and remove the bottom rack. The filter is located on the bottom of the tub and looks like a circular device near the bottom spray arm.

    • 3

Examine the filter for large chunks of food or residue that might be clogging the filter.

    • 4

Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe the filter clean and remove any debris.
