How to Remove the Sump Pump From a Frigidaire Dishwasher

When your Frigidaire dishwasher is running a cleaning cycle, the sump pump, located in the motor assembly, is used to remove excess water. If your dishwasher unit is overfilling with water, you need to inspect your sump pump for damage that may be causing it to malfunction. You can remove the sump pump at any time by accessing the motor assembly in the bottom of your Frigidaire dishwasher.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off the power supply to your Frigidaire dishwasher by turning off your kitchen circuit breaker.

      Open the dishwasher door and remove the bottom and top racks by sliding them out of the unit.

      Pull on the retaining clips below the spray arm to loosen it, then lift the spray arm out of the dishwasher.

      Lift up and pull out the glass trap. Turn the spray arm support clockwise, then lift up to remove it.

      Lift up and remove the filter. Remove the three screws from the top sump pump cover using a screwdriver. Remove the cover.

      Disconnect the upper spray arm hose, drain hose and motor wiring from the sump pump. Turn and lift up on the pump.

      Remove the sump pump from the unit and inspect the part to see if there is any damange, such as holes or cracks in the pump.

      Place the sump pump or new replacement pump back into the motor assembly and reconnect the motor wiring, drain hose and spray arm hose.

      Place the pump cover back onto the pump and reinsert the three screws back into the cover.

      Place the spray arm support back into the dishwasher and turn it counterclockwise. Place the glass trap back into the unit.

      Place the spray arm back into the unit and turn it counterclockwise. Place the racks back into the dishwasher and close the door. Turn the power for the dishwasher back on.
