How to Remove the Door Hinges From a Whirlpool Dishwasher

If your door won't completely shut or open on your Whirlpool dishwasher, then you will be unable to run a cleaning cycle and you must quickly troubleshoot the problem. The door to your dishwasher is fully attached to the door hinges, and if the hinges become bent, they will need to be replaced. You can easily remove the door hinges at any time, but you must also fully remove the door from the unit in order to access the screws connecting the hinges to the dishwasher.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the power to your dishwasher in your kitchen's circuit breaker.

    • 2

Remove the two screws on the door panel using a screwdriver, then remove the two screws from the lower toe panel.

    • 3

Lift up the door so that it detaches from the hinges and then remove the door completely from the dishwasher.

    • 4

Locate the hinges on both sides of the front of the dishwasher. Remove the screws holding the door hinges in place.

    • 5

Remove the door hinges from the dishwasher, then inspect the hinges for damage to see if they need to be replaced.

    • 6

Place the old door hinges or the new replacement hinges back onto the unit, making sure the springs are still secured within each hinge.

    • 7

Reinsert the screws back into the door hinges. Slides the dishwasher door onto the hinges so it becomes connected.

    • 8

Reinsert the screws into the door panel and toe panel so that the door is fully reconnected. Turn the power back on in the circuit breaker.
