Open the dishwasher door.
Press down on the detergent doors to ensure they latch.
Check for suds at the base of the dishwasher. This may indicate you are using the wrong dish washing detergent, which can leave a film on the detergent door, preventing it from closing. Rinse the door area with water to remove any soap residue.
Inspect the door hinge for any broken pieces. Order replacement parts from GE if the door is broken.
Pour 1 cup of white vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher detergent door if you notice white deposits on the door and inside the dispenser. Run the rinse cycle to spread the vinegar throughout the dishwasher. Add the cup of vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher if the detergent door will not open.
