How to Remove a Filter from a Frigidaire Electrolux Dishwasher

Making repairs to the pump on the Frigidaire Electrolux dishwasher requires removing the fine filter at the bottom of the dishwasher. The Electrolux uses two different filters. The large removable filter in front of the spray arm assembly captures large debris, while the filter screen that covers the bottom of the dishwasher prevents smaller food items and debris from entering the pump. Removing the filter from a Frigidaire Electrolux dishwasher involves some disassembly of the unit, but you won't need any tools to remove the necessary components.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the circuit breaker to the Frigidaire Electrolux dishwasher inside your home electrical panel box. Open the dishwasher door, then slide the lower rack out of the dishwasher.

    • 2

Pull the two lower spray arm retaining clips out with your fingers, then lift the spray arm out of the dishwasher. The retaining clips are below the spray arm on the center hub. Once you pull them out, they disconnect the spray arm from the center hub support.

    • 3

Lift the handle on the glass trap filter and remove it from the bottom of the dishwasher. The glass trap is the large filter in the center of the dishwasher that prevents broken glass and other large debris from clogging the fine filter.

    • 4

Rotate the spray arm support in the center of the dishwasher counterclockwise with your hand until it releases from the dishwasher pump. Lift the support straight up and remove it from the dishwasher.

Grab the center of the fine filter and lift it straight up to remove it from the Frigidaire Electrolux dishwasher. It does take slight force when lifting the filter to disengage the four locking tabs.
