Troubleshooting for a Kenmore Dishwasher With a Blinking Clean Button

The lights on a Kenmore dishwasher panel do more than simply tell you what cycle you have chosen or when the dishes are clean. Various lights will flash when a malfunction has occurred with the dishwasher in order to alert you to the situation. When the “Clean” light blinks on a Kenmore dishwasher, the error is usually related to the control module. While most users will not be able to fix this on their own, some troubleshooting might stop the blinking without requiring repair.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Kenmore dishwasher, wait 30 seconds, then restore power.

    • 2

Run hot water at the nearest sink until the water is very warm or hot, then select a new wash cycle on the dishwasher and select “Start.”

    • 3

Check the household water temperature if the “Clean” light keeps blinking and the cycle will not begin to see if the water is 120 degrees Fahrenheit or more. Raise the water temperature if necessary and allow several hours for the temperature change to take effect before trying to run a new dishwasher cycle.

    • 4

Open and shut the dishwasher door if the light keeps blinking. Push the “Heated Dry” and then the “Normal” key pad buttons, then "Heated Dry" again and "Normal" again. Allow the cycle to run for four minutes, then touch “Cancel/Drain” so the water exits the dishwasher.

Select a normal cycle and then push “Start” to resume normal function.
