How to Troubleshoot a Bosch SHE4AM1

The Bosch SHE4AM1 is an automatic dishwasher with a two-pump motor that provides quieter operation. Other features include condensation drying, a three-filter system and nylon-coated racks to prevent damage to dishes. The unit's flow-through heater is capable of heating water up to 160 degrees Fahrenheit. If you encounter problems with your Bosch dishwasher, try to troubleshoot the issues before calling an authorized service technician.

Instructions

  1. Dishwasher Will Not Start

    • 1

Check that the dishwasher is turned on by pressing the "Power" switch.

    • 2

Verify that the dishwasher is connected to a working power supply and that the breaker or fuse has not been tripped. Reset or replace the breaker or fuse if necessary.

    • 3

Check that the door is firmly closed and latched. The dishwasher will not operate if the door is not properly closed.

    • 4

Verify that a cycle has been selected before closing the door. Open the door and select a cycle if necessary.

    • 5

Check that the water hoses to the dishwasher are connected to the water pipes in the house and that the water supply is turned on. There may be a valve to the piping for the dishwasher under the sink. Otherwise, check that the water is turned on at the main water line to your home. Connect to or turn on the water supply.

    Cleaning Problems

    • 6

Ensure that the spray arm path is not obstructed if your dishes are not getting clean. Restricted movement of the spray arm will not allow all of the dishes to get clean.

    • 7

Check the nozzles on the spray arm for clogs and remove them, as necessary, to improve the range of spray.

    • 8

Verify that you are not loading the dishes too closely against one another. If the water path is obstructed because the dishes are too close, they will not get fully clean.

    • 9

Check that the wash cycle you selected is appropriate for the condition of the dishes. A lighter cycle will not fully clean very dirty dishes.

    Water and Leakage Problems

    • 10

Inspect the water supply line for kinks and make sure that the water supply valve to the dishwasher is on if the dishwasher will not fill with water.

    • 11

Check that you are using the appropriate type of detergent if suds and water are leaking out of your dishwasher. Use only detergent labeled for dishwashers to avoid over-sudsing.

    • 12

Verify that the door seal is in good condition and still in place. A bad door seal or one that has become detached from the door will cause leakage.
