How to Fix a Whirlpool Dishwasher That Leaks From Underneath

A leaking Whirlpool dishwasher typically occurs due to a loose drain hose connection, the hose that connects to your piping and the dishwasher to dispense dirty dishwater. Although a professional plumber can fix the leaking drain hose, you can also repair the problem yourself by tightening the drain hose connector. Once tightened, the drain hose pushes water from the dishwasher without water buildup or excessive spills.

Instructions

    • 1

Close the dishwasher door and press "Cancel" to drain the dishwasher and turn it off.

    • 2

Grab the dishwasher on both sides and carefully pull it out from under the counter.

    • 3

Locate the drain hose on the bottom of the floor and place a towel underneath the hose to prevent water from spilling onto the floor.

    • 4

Squeeze the clamps on the drain hose with the pliers to open the clamps. Push the drain hose onto the drain hose connector.

    • 5

Release the clamps over the drain hose connector to secure the drain hose to the dishwasher's drain hose connector.

Carefully lift the dishwasher up and push it to the back into the under counter opening.
