The Maytag MDB4050AWW dishwasher was manufactured by Whirlpool, which owns the Maytag brand name. The appliance has a strainer filter installed inside the bottom to catch chunks of food and debris from dishes. This filter should be cleaned at least once a week so the appliance will drain properly, as well as to prevent unpleasant odors caused by decaying food. Cleaning the filter takes less than a minute to do, and no special tools are required.
