How to Locate the Float Switch in a GE Profile Dishwasher

If a GE Profile dishwasher is leaking water or not draining water well, one of the possible causes is a defective float switch. The float switch is located underneath the bottom of the dishwasher tub. To get to the float switch and inspect the device, you have to be able to access this area. Always disconnect power to the GE dishwasher before performing any maintenance tasks.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the water supply valve to the GE Profile dishwasher. Disconnect the screws holding the kick panel in position on the front of the dishwasher and lift off the front panel.

    • 2

Locate the float assembly, a large white device on the lower right-hand side of the dishwasher. The switch is beneath the float assembly and is usually a black device with two wires connected to it.

    • 3

Label the wires so you can replace them correctly when you're finished and then pull on the wire connectors with a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove them.

    • 4

Remove the screws holding the float switch onto the assembly and disconnect the switch to remove the switch from the dishwasher.
