How to Adjust a Door Latch on a GE PDW Dishwasher

General Electric PDW models of dishwashers include a top door latch that securely keeps the door shut when you wash your dishes in the appliance. If you ever have an issue where your dishwasher door won't shut properly, then you must inspect the door and door latch immediately to be able to run the dishwasher. The dishwasher won't run unless the door is completely connected to the door latch. It can be helpful to adjust the latch, if necessary, or inspect the part to see if it needs to be replaced.

Disconnect the power supply from the dishwasher by turning off the power to your kitchen's circuit breaker.

Open the dishwasher door and lower it all the way. Locate the door latch directly at the top front of the dishwasher.

Tighten the screw on the door latch, then shut the dishwasher door to see if the adjustment works.

Open the dishwasher door again, if you suspect the latch may be broken. Remove the screw from the door latch keeper.
