Switch off the breaker that controls the electrical circuit for the disposal at the main breaker box. Hold a no-touch electrical tester near the wires coming from the bottom of the disposal. Continue only if the tester does not beep.
Locate the dishwasher drain outlet fitting near the top of the disposal. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver into the fitting until it makes contact with the plastic knock-out plug.
Rap the end of the screwdriver with a hammer to dislodge the knock-out plug from the fitting. Remove the plug from the fitting and discard it.
Push the end of the dishwasher drain hose onto the dishwasher drain outlet fitting on the disposal.
Place a hose clamp around the hose and the fitting. Tighten the clamp with a Phillips screwdriver.
Turn the circuit breaker back on. Observe the hose-to-fitting connection while the dishwasher is running. Tighten the hose clamp further if any leaks are detected.
