How to Fix a Drainage Problem in a Maytag Dishwasher

Frigidaire dishwashers are hooked up to the kitchen water and drainage lines. The water lines, running from under your kitchen sink, attach to the back of the unit. Once water has run through the system, it comes out of the unit's drain line. Problems with water pooling at the bottom of the dishwasher after the washing cycle or flooding because of bad drainage may be the result of a clog. Troubleshooting the dishwasher will help lead to the problem and, hopefully, save you a call to the plumber.

Instructions

    • 1

Inspect the drain hose for signs of kinks. Remove any kinks from the drain hose.

    • 2

Follow the drain hose to see if it is attached to the sink disposal. Run the disposer or unscrew the bottom to empty it out.

    • 3

Look inside the food waste disposer inlet and check to make sure the knockout plug has been removed. If not, remove the knockout plug to drain the unit.

Ensure the dishwasher has completed the washing cycle by checking its digital display.
